Description

Parga (Πάργα) is a picturesque coastal town on the Ionian coast of Epirus in northwestern Greece, combining Mediterranean charm with a rich Venetian heritage. Pastel-colored houses rise amphitheatrically around the small harbor, while the Venetian castle crowns a rocky peninsula above the town. Just offshore lies the small island of Panagia, marked by its white chapel. The beaches of Valtos, Lichnos, and Sarakiniko are among the most attractive in the surrounding area. Excursions lead to the islands of Paxos and Antipaxos. Inland, the springs and gorge of the Acheron evoke ancient Greek mythology, in which the river was associated with the underworld.
