Description
Musandam (مسندم) is a spectacular peninsula in northern Oman, separated from the rest of the country by the territory of the United Arab Emirates. Its rugged coastline of towering limestone cliffs and deep, fjord-like inlets has earned it the nickname “Norway of Arabia”. Traditional dhow cruises from Khasab explore Khor ash Sham, winding past dramatic mountains, secluded coves and small islands, often accompanied by dolphins. Telegraph Island recalls the British telegraph station established here in the 19th century. Historic Khasab Fort and Jebel Harim, Musandam’s highest mountain, add cultural and historical interest to a landscape defined by striking mountains, crystal-clear waters and the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
