Short description of Haft Kul
Haft Kul means seven lakes, a chain of them stacked up the Shing valley south of Panjakent, each a different colour and each higher than the last. Marguzor is the one on every photograph, a deep turquoise held between bare red walls with a village of flat roofed houses beside it. The road is driveable to the fourth lake and then becomes a track that wants a high vehicle or an hour on foot. Families in Padrud take in guests through the warm months. Apricot orchards along the lower valley blossom before the upper lakes have thawed.
