Short description of Fann Mountains
The Fann Mountains are the trekking heart of the country, a compact block of limestone peaks between the Zarafshan and the highway with lakes of impossible colour tucked under them. Kulikalon and the Alauddin group are the two basins everyone walks to, reached over passes that stay under snow well into the early summer. Camps and simple guesthouses open for the short season and close again once the weather turns. Routes link up into circuits of several days without ever crossing a road. Nothing here is technical but the altitude and the loose ground demand fitness.
