Vlora

Vlora (Vlorë) is one of Albania's most important coastal cities and is widely regarded as the gateway to the Albanian Riviera. Situated where the Adriatic Sea meets the Ionian Sea, the port city combines history, nature, and seaside leisure in a unique setting. Vlora is best known as the place where Albania declared its independence in 1912, as well as for its scenic waterfront promenade, Kanina Castle, and the Byzantine Monastery of Zvërnec. The nearby Karaburun Peninsula, with its unspoiled coves and the Karaburun-Sazan Marine Park, is among the country's most spectacular natural attractions. With its beaches, dramatic coastline, and rich historical heritage, Vlora is one of southern Albania's premier travel destinations.

The independence story is complemented by the older streets around Muradie Mosque and the hilltop remains of Kanina.
