Description

Shkodra (Shkodër) is one of Europe's oldest cities and the cultural center of northern Albania, as well as the traditional gateway to the Albanian Alps. Situated between Lake Skadar and the Buna, Drin, and Kir rivers, the city combines a rich history with a vibrant atmosphere. Its landmark is Rozafa Castle, perched on a rocky hill with sweeping views over the lake and surrounding landscape. Highlights include the National Marubi Museum of Photography, the lively pedestrianized Kolë Idromeno Street with its cafés and traditional evening xhiro, and boat trips on Lake Skadar. Thanks to its proximity to Theth and Valbona, Shkodra is the main starting point for exploring the Albanian Alps.
