Description
Thoddoo (ތޮއްޑޫ) is an inhabited island north of Rasdhoo Atoll and is administratively part of Alif Alif Atoll. The island is known as an important agricultural center of the Maldives, particularly for its watermelons, papayas, and wide variety of vegetables. Extensive farmland covers much of the interior, creating a landscape that is unusual in the Maldives. Along the coast are palm-fringed sandy beaches and a designated bikini beach, while the surrounding waters are popular for snorkeling and diving. Numerous guesthouses welcome visitors seeking an experience beyond the resort islands. Thoddoo can be reached from Malé by public ferry or speedboat and is especially popular with independent travelers.
