Description
Dhigurah (ދިގުރަށް) is a long, narrow island in the Alif Dhaalu Atoll, known for its sweeping sandy beaches, palm trees, and rich marine life. The island stretches for around three kilometres from its inhabited village in the north to a largely undeveloped beach in the south. Dhigurah lies within the South Ari Marine Protected Area, an important sanctuary for whale sharks, which can be found here year round. Regular boat trips offer opportunities to snorkel with whale sharks and encounter manta rays at nearby cleaning stations. Despite its popularity, Dhigurah has retained a relaxed, authentic island character, combining natural beauty, local life, and a tranquil Maldivian escape.
