Description
Himmafushi (ހިއްމަފުށި) is a inhabited local island in Kaafu Atoll, located around 17 kilometers north of Malé. The island combines traditional Maldivian village life with a lively surf scene and serves as an accessible base for exploring waves in the North Malé Atoll. Himmafushi is best known for Jailbreaks, a fast right-hand reef break with three sections that can link into one long wave under the right swell. Sultans and Honky’s at nearby Thanburudhoo are also accessible by boat. Alongside its working harbor, village lanes and souvenir shops, the island offers a designated bikini beach and an authentic glimpse of everyday life on a Maldivian local island.
