Description
Shaviyani Atoll (ށަވިޔާނި) is a remote atoll in the north of the Maldives, forming the northern part of the geographical Miladhunmadulu Atoll. It encompasses 51 islands and combines pristine lagoons, coral reefs and traditional island life with a growing tourism industry. The historic island of Kanditheemu is home to a Friday Mosque whose doorposts bear the oldest surviving inscriptions in Thaana, the traditional script of the Dhivehi language. Funadhoo is the administrative capital and has been served by a domestic airport since 2020. Among the atoll’s best known resorts is Sirru Fen Fushi, famed for its Coralarium and 200 metre infinity pool.
