Description
Lhaviyani Atoll (ޅާވިޔަނި), also known as “Faadhippolhu”, lies north of Malé and combines spectacular dive sites with expansive resort islands and inhabited islands. Kuredu, Komandoo, Kanuhuraa, and Huravalhi are among the atoll’s best known destinations, which is renowned for its coral reefs, strong channels, and wreck diving. At the Shipyard, two coral covered shipwrecks attract a variety of reef fish and pelagic species. Fushivaru and the channels around Kuredu offer encounters with manta rays, reef sharks, and other large marine life. Naifaru, the atoll’s capital, is a densely populated local center shaped by its harbor, fishing, trade, and maritime traditions.
