Description
Raa Atoll (ރާ), also known as “North Maalhosmadulu”, is a vast island region in the northern Maldives comprising 88 islands, 15 of them inhabited. The atoll is known for its turquoise lagoons, vibrant coral reefs and tranquil islands. Ungoofaaru serves as its administrative center, while Alifushi is renowned for its traditional boatbuilding heritage. Rasgetheemu is associated with an ancient Maldivian legend about Prince Koimala and the origins of the Maldivian monarchy. Ifuru is home to a domestic airport, providing access to the atoll. Beyond the inhabited islands, coral reefs, lagoons and open ocean create a peaceful landscape with a distinctly remote character.
