Negombo (මීගමුව) is a lively coastal city on Sri Lanka’s western coast and a long established center of the island’s fishing tradition. The city is known for its sandy beaches, expansive lagoon, colorful fishing boats and bustling fish markets. Historic churches, the remains of the former Dutch Fort and the Dutch Canal reflect its Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial heritage.
