Description
Ella (ඇල්ල) is a scenic mountain town at around 1,040 metres in Sri Lanka’s Uva region, known for its green valleys, tea plantations, waterfalls and forested hills. The surrounding landscape is marked by the historic Nine Arch Bridge, the viewpoints of Little Adam’s Peak and Ella Rock, and nearby Ravana Falls. Ella combines varied hiking trails and the historic railway through the highlands with cafés, restaurants and small guesthouses. Its cool climate and picturesque setting make it a popular base for exploring the surrounding mountains. Ella brings together nature, tea culture and colonial railway heritage in one of Sri Lanka’s most distinctive highland destinations.
