Description
Narsarsuaq lies at the head of the Tunulliarfik fjord in South Greenland, in a green valley landscape that travelers call the Arctic's garden. The settlement grew around a wartime airfield and is the entry point to the Kujataa region, whose Norse and Inuit farming ruins carry UNESCO World Heritage status. Nearby stand the ruins of Brattahlid, the farm of Erik the Red, and the reconstructed Thjodhild church at Qassiarsuk across the water. Hikes lead to the Signal Hill viewpoint and to the edge of the inland ice, while boats weave between the icebergs of the Qooroq ice fjord.
