Description
Mustique is a privately owned island of about ninety villas, bought in 1958 by a Scottish aristocrat who gave a plot to Princess Margaret as a wedding present and thereby set the tone for everything that followed. It is run by a company owned by the homeowners, there are no hotels beyond the Cotton House, day visitors arrive by yacht or the small airstrip, and the whole island is essentially a garden with roads. Basil’s Bar on stilts over the water is the one public institution and the Wednesday night is the one fixed event.
