Description
Canouan is a small dry island in the middle of the Grenadines that spent most of its history as a fishing and boat building community of a few hundred people and has spent the last twenty years being turned into a resort. The northern third is a gated development with a Fazio golf course and a superyacht marina, the southern part is still the village of Charlestown and the school. The reef along the windward side is the longest in the Grenadines, and the beaches, particularly Godahl and Mahault, are as good as anything in the chain. Hurricane Beryl hit the island hard in 2024 and the village side is still repairing.
