Short description of Morija
Morija is the place where French missionaries settled in eighteen thirty three at Moshoeshoe's own invitation, and the printing press they brought with them made this the place where Sesotho first became a written language. The museum holds the national collection in practice, from Iron Age material to the manuscripts of the mission, and the church beside it is the oldest building in the country. Dinosaur tracks are pressed into the sandstone on the plateau above, a short walk from the village. The arts festival held here each southern spring is the largest cultural gathering in the country.
