Košice is the second city of Slovakia and its eastern capital, built around a spindle-shaped main street that widens into a long square with a fountain, a theatre and a run of pastel townhouses. At its head stands Saint Elizabeth's Cathedral, the largest church in Slovakia and the easternmost Gothic cathedral in Europe, with a crypt holding the tomb of Ferenc Rákóczi.
