Description
Harbour Island is a strip of land five kilometres long off the north end of Eleuthera, and the reason people come is the sand. Crushed shell from a reef offshore tints the entire Atlantic beach a soft pink that runs for its whole length and is strongest in low sun. Dunmore Town behind it is a loyalist settlement of clapboard cottages under bougainvillea, with no cars to speak of and golf carts on every lane. The island has drawn a wealthy and discreet crowd for decades and prices reflect it.
