Description
Andros is by far the largest island in the Bahamas and the least developed, a low platform of pine forest and mangrove cut into three parts by tidal creeks wide enough to be called bights. The third longest barrier reef in the world runs along its east coast and drops into a two thousand metre trench called the Tongue of the Ocean. Inland the limestone is riddled with blue holes, vertical flooded shafts that divers come specifically for. The west side is a shallow flat that is among the best bonefishing grounds anywhere.
