Description
Haputale (හපුතලේ) is a scenic mountain town at around 1,430 metres in Sri Lanka’s Uva Highlands, surrounded by extensive tea plantations and forested hills. The town is known for its spectacular views across the lowlands and surrounding mountains. The historic Dambatenne Tea Factory reflects the heritage of Ceylon tea, while Lipton’s Seat offers sweeping views across the surrounding tea estates. The 1931 Adisham Bungalow, with its beautifully maintained gardens, is another notable attraction. Haputale lies along the scenic railway through the highlands and is a convenient base for exploring the surrounding mountains and nearby waterfalls, including Diyaluma and Bambarakanda.
