Description
Guraidhoo (ގުރައިދޫ) is an inhabited island in the South Malé Atoll and a well known center for diving and water sports in the Maldives. The island is particularly known for its current swept channels and rich coral reefs, where grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, eagle rays and other large marine species can be seen. Surfers can also find several renowned reef breaks around Guraidhoo and the neighboring islands of Kandooma and Lhosfushi. At the same time, the village, with its harbor, fishing activity and guesthouses, offers a glimpse into everyday life on an inhabited Maldivian island. Guraidhoo lies south of Malé and is easily reached by boat.
