Description
Cluj-Napoca is the unofficial capital of Transylvania and the youngest city in Romania by population, with around a hundred thousand students in a city of three hundred thousand, which sets the tone entirely. The Hungarian, Saxon and Romanian layers sit on top of each other in a compact centre around a gothic church big enough for a much larger town. Untold and Electric Castle fill the summer, and the salt mine at Turda, forty minutes out, has been fitted with a ferris wheel and a boating lake a hundred metres underground.
