Description
Brasov (Brașov) sits in a bowl at the inner corner of the Carpathian arc with a forested mountain rising directly behind the main square, which is the largest and the best kept of the Saxon town squares. The Black Church beside it is the biggest gothic church between Vienna and Istanbul and got its name from a fire in 1689 that left the walls scorched for a century. Rope Street, a metre and a bit wide, is one of the narrowest streets in Europe, and a cable car runs up Tampa to a viewpoint over the whole basin.
