Blue Eye

Albania · Vlorë · 40 m

Description

The Blue Eye (Syri i Kaltër) is one of Albania's most famous natural attractions and a spectacular karst spring near the village of Muzinë. Renowned for its crystal-clear, intensely blue water, the spring emerges from a vast underground karst system to form a deep, funnel-shaped pool of remarkable beauty. The Blue Eye feeds the Bistricë River and is surrounded by a shady forest of mature plane trees, providing a cool retreat even on hot summer days. A short walking trail leads from the entrance to a viewing platform overlooking the spring, while the shallower sections of the river offer a pleasant place to relax and cool off. Often visited as a day trip from Sarandë or Gjirokastër, the Blue Eye is considered one of southern Albania's most remarkable natural landmarks.
