Short description of Amwaj Islands
Amwaj is a set of reclaimed islands off the northeast corner, built on dredged sand around a lagoon and given over to hotels, apartments and a marina. The Lagoon is the middle of it, a waterside row of restaurants that fills in the evening, and the shallow inner water is calm enough to swim and paddle. It is where people stay when they want a beach rather than a city, and the boats that run out to the Jarada sandbar leave from here. There is almost nothing old on it and that is the arrangement.
