Short description of Sakhir
Sakhir is the desert half hour south of the capital where the island gives up its villages and turns to open stone. The motor circuit is here, floodlit and running most of the year on track days, karting and drag nights rather than only the grand prix it is known for. A few kilometres east a single old mesquite stands alone on a rise above an oil field, fenced now against the people who carved their names into it, and the story that it lives on no water at all is a better tale than the taproot that actually feeds it.
