Description
Accra (Ga) is the Ghanaian capital and the arrival point for almost everyone, a low sprawling city on the Gulf of Guinea that runs on street commerce and a music scene loud enough to hear from the road. Independence Square holds the Black Star Gate and one of the largest parade grounds in the world, and the Nkrumah memorial park a few streets away marks where the first president declared independence in 1957. Jamestown, the old fishing quarter under a colonial lighthouse, has become the centre of the city's street art and boxing gyms.
