Description
The Zambezi Region is the narrow arm of Namibia that reaches east between Angola, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe, and it looks nothing like the rest of the country. Four rivers cross it, the land is green and flat, and the wetlands of Mudumu and Nkasa Rupara carry hippo, crocodile, buffalo and the elephants that move freely between here and the Okavango Delta. Katima Mulilo on the Zambezi is the regional capital and the crossing point into Zambia. Roads are few and mostly unpaved, and almost everyone who comes drives themselves. Lodges sit along the riverbanks and run boat trips at dusk.
