Description
The Fish River Canyon in southern Namibia is considered the second-largest canyon in the world and ranks among Africa’s most impressive natural landscapes. Stretching for around 160 kilometres, this immense gorge is characterised by sheer rock walls, deeply carved river bends and dramatic geological formations reaching depths of up to 550 metres. The canyon is particularly renowned for its spectacular viewpoints near Hobas, striking light conditions and the challenging Fish River Hiking Trail through its remote wilderness. The hot springs of Ai-Ais at the southern end of the canyon add another dimension to the experience. As one of southern Africa’s great natural wonders, the Fish River Canyon is a highlight of any journey through southern Namibia.
