Description
Sossusvlei is one of Namibia’s most spectacular landscapes, located in Namib-Naukluft National Park in the southwest of the country. The area is renowned for its immense red-orange sand dunes, some rising more than 300 metres, its pale salt and clay pans, and the surreal Deadvlei with its centuries-old dead camel thorn trees. Famous dunes such as Dune 45 and Big Daddy define the dramatic scenery of the Namib Desert. The striking combination of monumental dunes, skeletal trees and intense desert light makes Sossusvlei one of Africa’s most iconic photographic locations and a highlight of any journey through Namibia.
