Skeleton Coast National Park

Namibia · Erongo · 5 m

Description

Skeleton Coast National Park is one of Namibia’s most remote and spectacular protected areas, stretching along the rugged Atlantic coast in the northwest of the country. The region is known for its fog-shrouded coastline, towering dunes, deserted beaches and historic shipwrecks, as well as the dramatic meeting of the Namib Desert and the cold Atlantic Ocean. Despite the harsh conditions, this barren landscape provides a habitat for desert-adapted elephants, lions, brown hyenas, oryx and numerous bird species, while large colonies of Cape fur seals inhabit the coast. With its pristine landscapes, remarkable wildlife and isolated wilderness, the Skeleton Coast is considered one of Africa’s most fascinating and mysterious regions.
