Description
Waterberg Plateau Park is one of Namibia’s most distinctive natural and conservation areas, dominated by a massive reddish sandstone plateau rising steeply above the surrounding savanna. The protected plateau provides an important refuge for rare wildlife, including black and white rhinos, buffalo, sable and roan antelopes, as well as a rich variety of birdlife, including the rare Cape vulture. Waterberg combines dramatic rock formations and sweeping views with scenic hiking trails, wildlife viewing and significant historical importance. Offering a quieter nature experience between central Namibia and the Etosha region, the park is a rewarding destination for hikers, wildlife enthusiasts and travelers heading north through Namibia.
