Description

Sucre is Bolivia's constitutional capital and the country's historical, judicial, and cultural heart. Situated at an altitude of around 2,800 metres, the city is renowned for its exceptionally well-preserved colonial centre, whose whitewashed buildings have earned it the nickname “White City” and UNESCO World Heritage status. Around Plaza 25 de Mayo, elegant churches, monasteries, and colonial mansions define the cityscape. Home to the Casa de la Libertad, where Bolivia's declaration of independence was signed in 1825, Sucre ranks among South America's most significant historic cities. Just outside the city, Cal Orck'o preserves one of the world's largest concentrations of dinosaur footprints. Combining colonial heritage, living traditions, and a relaxed atmosphere, Sucre is widely regarded as one of the best-preserved and most beautiful colonial cities in Latin America.
