Death Road, Bolivia

Death Road

Bolivia · Altiplano · 3600 m

Description

The Yungas Road, better known as the “Death Road”, is a spectacular mountain road in Bolivia that connects La Cumbre Pass near La Paz with the subtropical Yungas region. The narrow gravel road descends around 3,600 metres through steep cliffs and deep gorges, often without guardrails. It was long considered one of the world's most dangerous roads until a modern bypass diverted most traffic to a safer route. Today, the former transport route is best known for its spectacular mountain bike descents and is one of Bolivia's most popular adventure attractions.
