Description
Oruro is a historic mining city on Bolivia's high Altiplano and one of the country's most important cultural and religious centers. It is best known for the Carnival of Oruro, one of South America's greatest folk festivals and recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Spectacular parades featuring thousands of dancers and musicians, led by the famous Diablada with its elaborate devil masks, blend Catholic and Indigenous traditions into a unique cultural celebration.
