Description
Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat and one of South America's most spectacular natural wonders. Covering more than 10,000 square kilometers, this vast, almost perfectly flat expanse was formed by the evaporation of prehistoric lakes and is renowned for its brilliant white surface, striking polygonal salt patterns, and Incahuasi Island, home to giant cacti. During the rainy season, a thin layer of water transforms the salt flat into a giant natural mirror where the sky and الأرض appear to merge. Multi-day 4WD tours often include salt hotels, ancient coral formations left behind by the prehistoric lakes, and other highlights of Bolivia's Altiplano.
