Description
Spitzkoppe is a striking mountain landscape in Namibia’s Erongo Region and is often referred to as the “Matterhorn of Namibia” for its distinctive granite peaks. Rising to 1,728 metres, the approximately 120-million-year-old rock formations tower dramatically above the vast surrounding plains and glow in vivid shades of orange and red, especially at sunrise and sunset. The area is known for its natural rock arch, prehistoric San rock art, scenic hiking and climbing opportunities, and exceptionally clear night skies. With simple campsites nestled among the granite formations, Spitzkoppe combines spectacular scenery, ancient cultural heritage, and an immersive wilderness experience in one of Namibia’s most iconic landscapes.
