Description
Okonjima Nature Reserve is a private, roughly 200 km² conservation area at the foot of the Omboroko Mountains and home to the AfriCat Foundation, dedicated to the protection and research of Namibia’s wildlife. The reserve is particularly known for its leopards, as well as brown hyenas, pangolins and white rhinos roaming its vast savanna landscapes. Guided game drives and tracking excursions offer rewarding wildlife encounters, sometimes supported by telemetry data from animals fitted with research collars as part of AfriCat’s long-term monitoring programs. Conveniently located between Windhoek and Etosha National Park, Okonjima combines hands-on conservation with an authentic safari experience and is a popular stop on classic Namibia itineraries.
