Description
Mount Nimba (Mont Nimba) is a range on the meeting point of Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Liberia, rising to one thousand seven hundred and fifty two metres with grassland on the tops and forest on the flanks. The strict reserve on the Ivorian side covers fifty square kilometres of the hundred and seventy five the listing protects. It holds a toad that bears live young and is found nowhere else, and chimpanzees that crack nuts with stones. Iron ore under the range and the pressure to mine it put the site on the danger list, where it has stayed. Access needs a permit and comes through Danané.
