Description
Korhogo is the main town of the Senufo north, dry savannah country that feels a world away from the lagoon coast, and it is the best place in the country to see craft actually being made rather than sold. The village of Fakaha paints the black mud cloths of stylised animals and masked dancers that carry the Korhogo name worldwide, and Waraniéné weaves the cotton strips they are painted on. Mount Korhogo rises behind the town and the Senufo poro initiation groves in the surrounding villages are closed to outsiders.
