Description
Comoé (Parc national de la Comoé) is the largest protected area in West Africa at eleven and a half thousand square kilometres, a UNESCO site since 1983 that spans the transition from forest to savannah and holds every vegetation type of the region within one boundary. Poaching and the civil war put it on the danger list for a decade and it came off in 2017 after elephant, chimpanzee and buffalo numbers recovered. Infrastructure is thin and the river crossings dictate access, so this is a park for people who want a park rather than a lodge.
