Assinie
Côte d'Ivoire · Sud-Comoé · 3 m
Description
Assinie is the resort strip of Côte d'Ivoire, a narrow sand tongue eighty kilometres east of Abidjan with the Atlantic on one side and the Aby lagoon on the other, and everything worth doing is on the water. Weekend houses, kitesurf schools and beach clubs line the ocean side, the lagoon side is calm enough for paddleboards and pirogue trips out to the mangroves, and the point where the two meet at the mouth of the Bay of Cocotiers is the standard photograph. It fills with Abidjan on Saturdays and empties by Monday.
