Mikumi National Park is one of Tanzania's most accessible national parks and among the country's most popular safari destinations. Located about a four-hour drive from Dar es Salaam via a paved highway, it offers an authentic safari experience without the need for a bush flight. The park is renowned for its vast Mkata Floodplain, often referred to as the “Little Serengeti”, where elephants, giraffes, lions, zebras, buffaloes and a variety of antelope species can be observed against the scenic backdrop of the Uluguru Mountains. Its excellent accessibility, diverse wildlife and classic East African savannah landscapes make Mikumi National Park an ideal introduction to Tanzania's wilderness.
