Kilimanjaro National Park is one of East Africa’s most impressive natural areas and protects Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain at 5,895 meters. The mighty volcano rises dramatically from the savannahs of Tanzania and offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes on the way to Uhuru Peak, from tropical mountain rainforest and fascinating heath and moorlands to alpine desert and the ice covered summit region. The park, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its spectacular scenery, diverse flora and fauna, and the opportunity to reach one of the world’s most famous summits without technical climbing skills.
