Description
La Ceiba is the vibrant gateway to Honduras' Caribbean coast and the country's leading hub for adventure and nature tourism. The city is known for its palm-lined waterfront, laid-back Caribbean atmosphere, and spectacular setting between the Caribbean Sea and the rainforests of Pico Bonito National Park. It serves as the main departure point for white-water rafting on the Río Cangrejal, ferries to the Bay Islands, and snorkeling and diving excursions to the protected Cayos Cochinos Marine Reserve. The Cuero y Salado Wildlife Refuge, with its mangroves and diverse wildlife, is also within easy reach. With its lively nightlife, Honduras' largest carnival, and its role as the gateway to some of the country's finest natural attractions, La Ceiba is one of the country's most appealing travel destinations.
