Description
Gracias is one of the oldest colonial towns in Honduras and the historic heart of the Lenca region. The town is known for its cobblestone streets, well-preserved colonial architecture, historic churches, and the hilltop Fuerte San Cristóbal. Nestled at the foot of Celaque National Park, Gracias serves as the gateway to the country's highest peak and a biodiverse cloud forest where the resplendent quetzal can be found. The nearby hot springs, together with the pottery and weaving traditions of the surrounding Lenca villages, make Gracias one of the most culturally and scenically rewarding destinations in western Honduras.
