Description
Kabalebo is a lodge on its own river in the far west of Suriname with nobody living for a hundred kilometres in any direction, and the airstrip it sits beside was cut in the 1960s under Operation Grasshopper to survey the interior. The flight from Zorg en Hoop takes an hour and there is no other way in. Trips are sold in four, five and eight day blocks because that is how the flights work. Granite hills rise out of the canopy, the river runs in rapids and falls, and the birdlist is the reason most guests come.
