Jebel Jais
United Arab Emirates · Ras Al Khaimah · 1934 m
Description
Jebel Jais (جبل جيس) is the highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates at 1,934 metres and the spectacular heart of the Hajar Mountains in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. The rugged mountain range is known for its dramatic rocky landscapes, comparatively cool highland climate and sweeping views across the surrounding peaks and valleys. Among its best-known attractions is the Jais Flight, which at more than 2.8 kilometres holds the record as the world’s longest zipline and reaches speeds of up to 150 kilometres per hour. The Jais Sky Tour, hiking and climbing activities, and a winding mountain road with scenic viewpoints make the landscape accessible to less adventurous visitors as well. Jebel Jais combines impressive natural scenery with modern adventure tourism and reveals a surprisingly alpine side of the United Arab Emirates.
